You might believe lemons are a great treat because they are fruit; however, they are acidic. If you love sucking on lemons, you’re increasing your risk of preventable complications, like enamel erosion. Their acidity not only weakens your enamel but can also alter the pH balance in your mouth. It’s better to choose less acidic fruits that are known to promote your dental health, like apples or strawberries.
2. Ice
If you have a habit of chomping on ice, you’re putting your teeth under unnecessary stress that can weaken them over time. The gnawing can lead to a broken or fractured tooth that will require a visit to an emergency dentist to treat. If you can’t resist an ice-cold drink, use a straw to reduce the temptation to crunch.
