A fast, simple way to improve even the most flawed smiles, porcelain veneers are popular cosmetic dentistry solutions. However, like any dental care option, they’re not right for every patient. Please contact our team to find out more or schedule your cosmetic dentistry consultation. During a cosmetic consultation, the Summerlin Center for Aesthetic Dentistry team examines your smile and helps you determine whether or not porcelain veneers are the right choice to create your picture-perfect smile. We can also offer other cosmetic solutions for our Las Vegas dental patients to ensure your complete smile confidence.
When to Consider Veneers
Veneers are thin sheaths of porcelain that fit onto the front surfaces of teeth creating a flawless smile. We may recommend porcelain veneers for patients with any number of cosmetic dental flaws including:
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Severely stained teeth that do not respond to teeth whitening
- Unevenly spaced teeth or teeth that are slightly crooked
The Porcelain Veneers Process
Once we’ve decided porcelain veneers are the best solution to transform your smile, we may be able to start the preparation process immediately. In most cases, we’ll schedule a second office visit to begin treatment. We numb the area around the teeth to be treated. Then, a small amount of surface structure is removed to allow the veneer to lay flat against the surface of the tooth without changing the natural smile line. Once teeth are prepared, we capture bite impressions. These are used by our trusted dental lab to craft high quality, custom veneers. Before you leave our office, well place a temporary to protect the prepared teeth.
A dental lab will use our bite impressions and diagnostic images to create a natural looking, flawless porcelain veneer. When we receive this final restoration, you’ll return to our office. This second visit is significantly shorter than the first appointment. We simply remove the temporaries and exchange them for the custom solution.
Porcelain Veneers Sample Case
We find it’s helpful for patients to consider a specific example when choosing a treatment. As a hypothetical example, a student chipped one front tooth and damaged several others while participating in an athletic event. This young athlete had school photos coming up just a few weeks after this incident. Apart from the traumatic damage, his smile was completely healthy. To get him camera ready before picture day, we created and placed porcelain veneers to recreate the flawless appearance of his damaged smile. We also recommended a custom athletic mouthguard to protect our athlete’s smile from further damage!
